This past week, 4th grade started their persuasive writing unit by making homemade (or shall I say classmade) applesauce in the crockpot. Together, we practiced sequencing the steps of making applesauce and using a graphic organizer to organize the steps. The next day, we got to explore the fruits of our labor by eating the delicious applesauce while brainstorming other types of foods we know how to make. We are continuing to work through the writing process by writing about a food that was chosen by the individual students. Writing can be really "sweet" in 4th grade!
